Post-Render Shutdown Documentation

Overview

Post-Render Shutdown is a lightweight Blender add-on for unattended rendering. Start your render and let Blender automatically save, close, and shut down your system when it’s finished.

Features

  • One click toggle in the 3D View header
  • Automatically saves your file before exit
  • OS aware shutdown (Windows, macOS, Linux)
  • Safe handling of cancelled renders

Quick start

  1. Drag and drop the add-on into Blender to install it
  2. Save your .blend file
  3. Enable Post-Render Shutdown in the header
  4. Start your render
  5. Blender will shut down automatically when done

How it works

The add-on listens to Blender’s render lifecycle. When a render finishes, it saves your file, closes Blender, and sends a shutdown command to your system.

UI states

  • ON: Shutdown is armed
  • OFF: Idle
  • WARNING: Render started before enabling

Settings

  • Shutdown delay (seconds)
  • Minimal UI mode

Limitations

  • Depends on OS shutdown permissions
